If you're like me, you're very concerned about how to get the highest ranking for your website in the search engines. And, if you're like me, you've got all the basic search engine optimization happening. You've optimized your website with appropriate keywords and content. You've submitted your website to all the major and dozens of minor search engines. And now you feel like there's nothing more to do than wait.
Right?
Wrong! If your S.E.O. efforts stopped there, you've really just hit the tip of the iceberg! Yes, you should do all those things that are commonly done to optimize your website. You should design your website with strong keyword driven content. You should title each of your webpages with appropriate keywords. And you should patiently wait for these changes to translate into increased search engine rankings.
But while you're waiting, you can be doing things that will increase your rankings even more than all this optimization. If you've got even a little bit of literary ability in your skin, you should be writing articles and posting them on any of the hundreds of "eZines" online. The term eZine comes from "electronic magazine." There's literally hundreds of these eZines out there, and each of them allows individuals to submit articles.
Here's what you should do. Start with a good eZine. Open an author account. Figure out what category your product or service fits into. And write! Write as many articles as you can. Submit them, making sure that you include your bio and your website. When these articles get published (and it usually takes less than a week) you've automatically got a backlink to your website. These backlinks will increase your search engine rankings more than a dozen well chosen keywords.
